Prevalence of Thyroid Disease by Breed

Some breeds - including the Border Terrier, Wheaten Terrier, Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, and Greyhound - do not have a high prevalence of autoimmune thyroid disease. However, many popular breeds including the Irish Setter, Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, Shetland Sheepdog, Beagle, and Doberman have a high prevalence of autoimmune thyroid disease.
